Coffee Fueled Morning with DEVO
Posted in Musings, Music on May 11th, 2007 by AugiewanIt’s amazing what difference 15 minutes and hot cup of coffee can make in the morning. I normally set my coffee maker at night to make me my sweet nectar of life in the morning, but failed to last night. When I realized that I was still in bed and my ride would be showing up in 5 minutes, the harsh reality set in that I would be waiting until I got to work before I could enjoy my first cup. So here I am. 20 minutes ago I could barely get the key in my office door without falling over and now I’m a happy little hyper worker bee…
So here I sit, listening to DEVO. Yes, I recently realized that ALL of my DEVO music was on LP, and since my turntable has been unusable for years, I haven’t listened to them in a while. I immediately turned to Amazon and purchased their first 6 albums.
I know that most of you probably only know of their song “Whip It” if you’ve heard of them at all. Most folks who do know of them see them as a one-hit wonder band from the 80’s. They’ve actually been playing their wonderfully enigmatic music since the mid 70’s. They were well ahead of their time and it’s a crime that they never had more monetary success. Many bands have recognized how great their songs are and have covered some such as Nirvana (Turn Around) and Soundgarden (A Girl You Want).
Where am I going with this? I don’t know! Like I said, I’m on a bit of a caffeine buzz right now…
