Augie Art Updated

Posted in Copic Markers, Yahtzee Doodles on June 27th, 2007 by Augiewan

Just added a couple Yahtzee Doodles and one more color sketch I did at lunch today with my Copics.  It’s another version of my character Anne.  I really want to be all witty and fun, but I’m tired, so you’ll just have to enjoy the view…

Do I bore you too?

So there I was yesterday at work, typing away on an email when I got an IM from Sheila that said, “your post are about as fun to read as I don’t know say “Financial Daily”!!”.

At first I just stared at it in disbelief.  Now I know that I can write an interesting (and sometimes maybe even humorous) blurb now and then, so I started to reason in my mind that she just isn’t all that interested in the stuff I’d been writing about so far.  After all, I’ve just begun using my new blog and half the posts are about the Inavder Zim gallery I’m trying to get moved over from my old site.   “That’s it! Silly Sheila just doesn’t care about Zim”, I thought to myself.

So I started looking back at the posts I’d made so far.  Nope, they’re boring…   :p

What’s going on?  I mean, the few that I wrote a couple years back were pretty good, weren’t they?  I particularly adore the recollection of my emergency appendectomy.  And what about the musings about my shaved stomach after the surgery?  If that’s not your cup of tea, what about my marshmallow-in-the-microwave pictorial study?  It’s all golden, right???

The truth is that those were fun to write because I was writing about my life and things I found oddly amusing.  I love writing, and all I’ve been doing so far is posting some pictures, adding some content, blah blah blah…

So what now?  Well, to beat a dead horse a bit more, I need to finish the Zim gallery.  I must finish SOMETHING I started after all.  But after that, I’ll try to relax a little with this blog thing and just write about what come naturally.  What will that mean?  I don’t know, so there!  Stay tuned…

Who Gets the Press?

Posted in Rants, Sports on June 21st, 2007 by Augiewan

In the world of professional sports, there are a lot of great examples of how NOT to act, how NOT to treat others, how NOT to play. Practically every sport out there has a revolving doorway of players through the legal system for one reason or another. Others may stay out of trouble off the field, but play in such an un-sportsman-like way that they disgust me almost as much as their criminal cohorts.

But I tend to get sick of how the media in general focuses on these losers, not just in sports but in all areas of life. Feel-good stories just don’t get the headlines they deserve. My favorite football team is the Green Bay Packers and they’ve had their share of players getting bad press over the past decade. But there are a lot of guys on these teams that go out of their way to make life better for others.

One of my favorite examples is Donald Driver, currently the Pack’s go-to receiver. This is a guy whose family went through some really tough times when he was young. He has just as many things to point at as “reasons” why he could be a complete malcontent, but he doesn’t have to. He’s a stand-up guy that deserves to have the big headlines that all the Pacman Jones and TO’s of the world get. He and every player like him that works hard, plays hard, and lives in a way they can be proud of.

I just read a nice little article that, like so many I’ve read before, give a brief overview of what Driver has been through and what he’s accomplished. It should be the lead story on NFL.com, instead of who’s holding out for more money (to play a stinking game) or who’s going to miss time this season due to legal problems. But it’s not, so I’ll help point a few more people that way to read it…

One For the Family

Posted in Family, Camping, Pictures on June 18th, 2007 by Augiewan

One thing I plan to do is to get a lot of the digital images that we’ve taken over the past years uploaded so that the extended family can see them, mostly for the first time. This first gallery is from our camping trip to Tahquamenon Falls State Park last summer.

See the gallery here.

More Zim Images and a Fun Weekend to Boot!

Posted in Family, Projects, Invader Zim on June 17th, 2007 by Augiewan

It’s been a really nice weekend. We got to see friends from Arizona that we haven’t seen in a long time. We also go to spend Sunday evening at lake Michigan and enjoy the beach with the kids. I’ll try to get some pictures posted soon.

I also got to waste some more time working on the Invader Zim Screenshot Gallery. Now complete for your obsessive pleasure are Bestest Friends, Nanozim, Germs, Dark Harvest, and Attack of the Saucer Morons. Have fun and don’t forget to tip your waitress!

Zim Gallery Update

Posted in Projects, Invader Zim on June 16th, 2007 by Augiewan

Things are going well getting the Zim image archive back up. It will actually have more than the original version including the alternate scene from “Door to Door” as well as the cut scene from “Abducted”. For now, there are four complete episodes up; the Pilot episode, The Nightmare Begins, Parent Teacher Night, and Walk of Doom. Seven others have been started and the rest will follow as I can get the time. You can see it as it grows here in the Uber Zim Gallery.

Now I need to get to bed. I hate when I’m not tired…
